PaulTheOwl/Ripper/MxBv For those into their dark ambient tinged with noises and subtle synth sounds, and very minimal rhythms, this is a must. The atmosphere and the pace is just right. Nice work. Favorite track: Unseen Anguish.

about

Curious Dread is a tense undercurrent of sound as you trip and fall in this world and wake in another.

Your awareness of falling to the ground is infinite in time and detail, as if it will never end. A sense of inevitability creeps over you as you're finally knocked unconscious.

When you wake, the sky is dark and starless, the ground is soft to the touch. Nothing like where you fell. Nearby are what look like trees that reach up to the black sky and beyond those are hills that cocoon this strange place. But, everything is still a blur, like a fog around your brain. Nothing feels normal as heavy, metallic air hits your lungs for the first time.

Before you have time for your eyes to adjust to the gloom that envelopes you, a voice speaks to you. You realise you can't hear the voice, but sense it in your head. It's asking questions you can't answer but is it also warning you?

You're up on your feet and chased by a desperate fear of the unknown, the need to escape is driven by a feeling that something is wrong. A bell peels in the distance revealing a hint at the size of this place but things are too close to consider anything further than your next step, creeping up on you at every turn.

You are pursued by something that seems large and daunting through a dark maze of terror and panic until you find sanctuary, a hallway of a ravaged building, to hide in.

Something new approaches and sends another warning, so you have to move on but stumble into another soul trapped here. It's dark and you can't make out features, but the words are the same, muttered at a frequency suggesting their will is lost.

You'll find a way out but not before being observed by something darker and larger than you've glimpsed before. What you assumed was a distant hillscape shifts and turns to look upon you. It speaks louder than anything else, its voice bouncing off every surface. You cover your ears in shock, even though you can still only hear it in your mind.

Utterly bewildered, you turn and run but it's like treading through syrup. Despite this, you are tripped and you fall beyond where the ground should be. A darkness swallows you once again.

You wake, back in this world, where you fell, covered in a damp and darkened dust. Night has fallen and the streetlights are on. Disorientated, you scurry home and lock the door.

Things are different now. You're left traumatised by what you have experienced. You feel like you're still falling as your mind fails to grasp at reality again. You can still hear the bell chiming in the distance. How can such a place be only a step away?
